This Privacy Policy explains how Stepmode (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use the Stepmode Facebook application (“the App”). The App is designed exclusively for internal team use and is not intended for public or consumer use.

2. Data We Collect

2.1 Facebook Profile Information

We may collect information you authorize through Facebook Login, including:

  • Name
  • Facebook User ID
  • Email address (if permission is granted)

2.2 Advertising & Business Account Data

When you authorize the App, we may access advertising and business management data you grant permissions to, including:

  • Ad account IDs and Business Manager IDs
  • Campaign, ad set, and ad performance metrics
  • Billing details, current spend, and payment thresholds
  • Business Manager structures and roles

2.3 Page & Content Data

We may access information from the Facebook Pages you connect, including:

  • Page IDs, names, and profile pictures
  • Public post content and engagement metrics (likes, shares)
  • Comments on Page posts (including message content and author name)

2.4 Access Tokens

Access tokens generated by Facebook are stored securely and used only to retrieve your authorized advertising and page data. These tokens are never shared with third parties.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your data only for the following purposes:

  • Retrieving and displaying Facebook Ads and Business Manager performance data
  • Monitoring Page engagement and public post performance
  • Moderating Page comments as authorized by your permissions
  • Providing internal reporting and analytics
  • Improving workflow efficiency for your team

We do not sell, share, or use your data for advertising or profiling.

4. Data Sharing

We do not share your data with any third parties. Data is only accessed by:

  • Facebook (as required by the Marketing API)
  • Your internal Stepmode team members

5. Data Storage & Security

We protect your data using:

  • HTTPS encrypted communication
  • Secure token storage
  • Role-based access control

Access tokens expire automatically and are removed when no longer needed.

6. Facebook Account & Page Management

6.1 Adding Facebook Assets

To add your Facebook account and associated advertising data or pages to the App, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the Facebook Profiles page of the App.
  2. Click on the "Continue with Facebook" button.
  3. A Facebook authorization dialog will appear. Ensure you are logged into the correct Facebook account.
  4. Review the requested permissions (Ad Account access, Page management, etc.).
  5. Select the specific Facebook Pages and Ad Accounts you wish to connect.
  6. Click "Done" and then "OK" to grant the App access.

Note: Your ability to see and manage specific assets depends on your assigned roles within Facebook Business Manager (e.g., Admin, Editor, Advertiser).

6.2 Managing Connected Pages

Once connected, you can manage your Facebook Pages directly within the App:

  • Viewing Stats: Access real-time engagement and performance metrics via the Page Insights tab.
  • Comment Moderation: View and delete comments on your Page posts directly through the App's interface.
  • Reconnecting Accounts: If your access token expires or if you need to refresh permissions, you can use the "Reconnect" option in the account actions menu to re-authorize the App with current permissions.

6.3 Removing Facebook Assets

You can revoke the App's access to your Facebook account or specific assets at any time:

Method A: Within the Stepmode App (Recommended)

  1. Navigate to the Facebook Profiles page within the App.
  2. Locate the account you wish to disconnect.
  3. Click on the "Disconnect" button (represented by a trash icon).
  4. Confirm the action in the dialog box.

Method B: Via Facebook Settings

  1. Log in to your Facebook account and go to Settings & Privacy > Settings.
  2. On the left sidebar, click on Business Integrations.
  3. Find "Stepmode" in the list of active integrations.
  4. Click the "Remove" button next to the App.
  5. Confirm the removal in the pop-up dialog.

Once removed, the App will no longer have access to your data, and all associated access tokens will be invalidated and removed from our systems.

7. Facebook Regulations

Use of this App is subject to Facebook's Platform Terms and Developer Policies. You must ensure that your use of Facebook data through this App complies with all applicable Facebook regulations regarding data privacy and advertising.

8. User Control & Permissions

In addition to removing the App via Facebook settings, you can manage specific permissions directly within the App's profile settings (if available).

9. Data Deletion

You may request deletion of all data associated with your user ID by contacting us at: info@stepmode.net

We will delete:

  • Access tokens
  • Analytics data
  • User identification data

Deletion is typically completed within 72 hours.

10. Children’s Privacy

Stepmode does not knowingly collect information from individuals under 18. The App is intended only for business use by adults.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as needed.
